Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Post-Doc Research Fellow in Informatics at our Research Institute in Evanston, IL. This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible. This position will work on exciting projects related to cancer genomic regulations and tumor heterogeneity. The main responsibilities include developing computational methods and analysis schemes, carrying out analyses (some on supercomputer), writing manuscripts, managing genomic data, and constructing databases and websites. Additionally, the Post-Doc will work in support of pragmatic trials using the Electronic Medical Records in Neurology, including developing methods, validating methods, implementing methods, giving presentations at meetings, and writing papers collaboratively with the Neurology research team. Qualifications: Our ideal candidate will have: -PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, molecular biology, statistics, electrical engineering, computer science or other related fields (Required). -Strong background and experience in both computational science and biology. -For applicants with statistical background, Bayesian modeling is required. -Experiences of cancer research, interaction network study, biomarker detection, and drug target identification are preferred. -Extensive knowledge of current medical and scientific literature and research findigns in related research areas -Ability to prepare and author scientific manuscripts for juried publication. -Prior experience in and ability to develop proposals to secure external research funding. -Knowledge of basic budget principles to use in managing project budget. -Able to solve technical and inter-laboratory problems related to research. -Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect experiment or reporting of results and of taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel.
