Job Description:
The University of Luxembourg has the following vacancy in the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB): Doctoral Candidate (PhD student) for computational modeling of gut microbiome metabolism and host-microbiome interactions (m/f). Tasks/Mission: ·Reconstruction of metabolic pathways for gut microbiota. ·Mapping of these data to available metagenomic data to search of association of these data with health or disease. ·Computational modeling of host metabolism and its metabolic interactions with human gut microbiota. ·Integration and analysis of experimental data in the microbial and host metabolic model. ·Databases and literature mining for genomic information. ·The project will thus include key technologies used in computational systems biology and bioinformatics. Your profile: ·Master´s degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Medicine, (Molecular) Biology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, or Biotechnology. ·Strong interest in metabolism, biochemistry, and computational modeling. ·Basic skills / experience in programming and statistical data analysis are highly desirable. ·Experience in genome analysis is highly desirable. ·Excellent communication skills are required. ·Excellent working knowledge of English is required. ·High motivation and interest in interdisciplinary research.
