Senior Bioinformatics Scientist

Job Description:
Paragon Genomics is seeking a senior level bioinformatics scientist who is passionate about making real differences in the field and is enthusiastic about working in an exciting startup environment. This position will lead the effort to (1) improve NGS data analysis algorithm and pipeline; (2) analyze NGS data to facilitate research and development effort of the company; (3) troubleshoot customer NGS data; (4) improve assay design algorithm and pipeline for multiplex PCR based target enrichment assays; and (5) perform custom assay designs.

This position requires a person with strong commitment to science and technology and with demonstrated knowledge in genomics, bioinformatics, statistics, and programing. We would like to have someone who is energetic, open-minded, detail-oriented and result-driven.

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience:

· Extensive experience with NGS variant calling algorithm development.

· Extensive experience with NGS data analysis pipeline development.

. Experience with PCR assay design.

· Solid background on genomics and molecular biology.

· Strong proficiency with python, perl, shell scripting and R.

· Familiarity with parallel computing, database, and Amazon Web Services.

· Experience on technical communication with customers.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education & Background Requirements:

· Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or related fields.

· 5+ years of industrial working experience.
