Job Description:
We are looking for a Bioinformatics Engineer with a solid foundation in computer science to join our computational group. The candidate will support the directed evolution efforts in R&D by creating and supporting software tools that improve our engineering efforts. The candidate will work closely with scientist to help scope, design, implement, and deploy software packages both internally and to 3rd party clients. Skills and Responsibilities: -Strong Object Oriented programming skills, with extensive experience programming in Java. -Knowledge of SQL databases, including but not limited to Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL. -Experience with user interface development using Swing, AWT, and/or JavaFX. -Knowledge of multi-tiered enterprise applications desired. -Ability to oversee the development of software through a complete development cycle. -Experience using one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell). -Experience with web application development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, JSP, Servlets) -Experience working with multiple operating systems, including Linux and Windows. -Knowledge of statistics and/or machine learning a plus. -Knowledge of R. Requirements: -Strong experience refactoring legacy applications in a safe manner. -Solid programming experience in Java, C, or C++. -Excellent written and oral communication skills. -A team player that is comfortable collaborating with many individuals across the company. -Strong organizational skills. -Excellent debugging skills, especially in code you haven’t written. -7+ years in database related development with a history of handling mission-critical data. Strong SQL knowledge.
