Job Description:
Developer/Analysts contribute to project-based teams within Research providing bioinformatics expertise at Asuragen.

Specific responsibilities may include the following:

-Curate and analyze genetic and genomic data.

-Present results to internal and external stakeholders.

-Design and optimize analysis methods to support commercial diagnostic products.

-Modify, maintain, and document existing bioinformatics analysis pipelines and software components.

-Contribute to technical reports, including grant applications, patents, publications, abstracts, and presentations.

Qualifications:

The Developer/Analyst position requires strong problem solving abilities, a high level of technical proficiency, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. In addition, qualified candidates will have most of the following:

-BS., M.S. or equivalent industry experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

-Previous research experience in at least one of the following areas: Biostatistics, machine learning, or genomic and/or genetic data analysis (e.g., NGS, CE, qPCR). Computational methods development in the field of molecular diagnostics and/or in an industry setting is a plus.

-Proficiency with R and/or Python. Comfortable working with the command line, in a Linux environment, and with version control (git).

-Knowledge of multiple publically available genomic resources and tools including: IGV, Bioconductor, RefSeq, ENSEMBL, HapMap, COSMIC, 1000 Genomes Project, ExAC, dbSNP, ENCODE, or TCGA.

-Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for working in a multi-disciplinary team setting on complex data analysis projects.

-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
