Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled computational biologist, with experience in high-throughput sequencing technologies, for a Staff-level scientist position within the UNC Neuroscience Center and Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The individual recruited for this position will be expected to develop new computational pipelines, contribute to the analysis and biological interpretation of genomic data, and play an integral role in supporting multiple long- and short-term projects. Expertise in summarizing genome-wide data as well as generating figures and tables for publications is also expected. This position requires experience in a Linux computing cluster environment, management of large datasets, data mining, bioinformatics and genomics techniques, and strong scientific communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have knowledge and demonstrated experience in DNA and RNA sequence analysis (ideally multiple of: RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, FAIRE-seq, ATAC-seq, DNase-seq, Hi-C/ChIA-PET, exome sequencing, etc), working in a Linux computing cluster environment (particularly LSF or slurm), and programming and scripting languages (Perl, Python, R). Experience working in a research support environment in Higher Education or University setting is desirable. The individual must also have strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work on several projects both independently and in a team setting, and interface effectively with biologists and computational scientists and statisticians.A Master's or Ph.D. and at least 3 years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, genomics, computer science, or statistics is required.
