As a Director, Bioinformatics, Science & Technology for Hill's Pet Nutrition.you will lead an interdisciplinary research team focused on integrating multi-omics data sets to support development of new technologies and technology platforms that enhance Hill’s leadership position in pet nutrition. This position is responsible for setting research strategy and implementing new programs utilizing core bioinformatics/computational biology capabilities. This position collaborates with Hill’s Nutrition Technology and Predictive Biology functions and contributes to Hill’s business success by delivering sustainable, competitive advantages in innovation. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: -Provides strategic leadership, effective management, organization and timely direction to a multidisciplinary staff in executing programs and projects supporting the development of a robust pipeline of new technologies and technology platforms that drive business results. -Develops and implements bioinformatics analyses, applications and workflows to expand Hill’s genomic and bioinformatics capabilities. -Uses knowledge from computer science to design large, complex databases for the storage of biological information and to manipulate and process complex research and clinical data. -Recommend new systems and processes to improve operations. -Works collaboratively with scientists to comprehend project objectives, analyze problems and evaluate and provide informatics solutions. -Communicates research results through presentations and project reports as well as scientific publications -Develops strategy for external alliances and partnerships to drive new technology development. -Systematically leverages external innovation ideas and expertise to address technology gaps and advance the Hill’s business. -Protects Hill’s Intellectual Property derived from strategic initiatives, programs and projects and collaborates with Legal to strengthen Hill’s Intellectual Property portfolio. -Leverages Global Technology capabilities to drive innovation. -Plans and manages departmental budget and resources in accord with corporate strategy, policy and objectives -Mentors, teaches and advises professional staff and creates greater organizational capability through staffing and -performance and career management to develop next generation technology leaders. -Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Include: -Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Mathematics, Molecular Biology or related discipline. -10+ years of increasingly responsible technical leadership and management experience in the nutrition, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical or related industry. -Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing research programs that support strategic objectives.
