Job Description:
The Department is seeking outstanding applicant for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level commensurate with accomplishments and experience in “Bioinformatics”. This person will develop an interactive research program in the Department by collaborating with basic scientists and clinicians, who may have limited knowledge and experience with computational tools, on the biological interpretation and analysis of “omics” data. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong oral and written communication skills and experience in integrating various omics platforms to collaborate with Urology and Oncology researchers and clinicians to impact clinical trials and cancer care in the age of genomically informed precision medicine. Strong backgrounds in molecular biology, genetics, and statistics are essential. Candidates for this position should have: · PhD plus a strong background in bioinformatics and genomics; in particular, a broad understanding of cancer and cancer genomics. Understanding of protein structure, biochemistry and signaling a plus. · Robust mathematical and statistical skills, and a track record of applying them to complex and noisy biological data. Experience in computational modeling. · Proficiency in R programming and experience in standard bioinformatics toolkits and programs. · Excellent communication and teamwork skills to take advantage of our highly collaborative environment. · A passion for innovation, and demonstrated initiative and track record in tackling new areas of research.
