Job Title: Bioinformatics Investigator I/II
Department: Biology
Reports to (Job Title): Group leader, Genomics and Disease profiling
Job Purpose:
To provide bioinformatics support to drug discovery programs
Major Accountabilities:
1. Data mining of large scale multi-omics data, next-gen-sequencing data in particular
2. Integrating multi-omics data for drug discovery and biomarker development
3. Developing useful computational tools and new algorithms for biological re-search
4. Providing expert data-mining support to drug discovery and translational re-search
5. Working in a multi-disciplinary team with lab scientists and IT professionals to support drug discovery
Key Performance Indicators:
1. Performance of assigned tasks in high quality according to agreed timelines
2. Contribution towards objectives for the group and the department.
3. Contribution towards CNIBR’s drug discovery programs
4. Adherence to Novartis values and Behaviors.

Ideal Background
Education (minimum/desirable):Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics, computer science or other related fields
Languages: Business-level oral and written English
Experience/Professional Requirement:
1. Three or more years of relevant post-graduate research experience in bioinformatics data analysis
2. Independent problem-solving capability in bio-informatics field
3. Excellent skills in statistical software like R and/or Matlab
4. Excellent skills with programming languages such as Perl and Python
5. Wide experience in next-gen-sequencing, ChIP-seq, transcriptomics, and proteomics, com-pound profiling analysis
6. Working knowledge in statistics
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and highly collaborative.
