Job Description:
The individual in this position will be responsible for developing and validating OmniSeq's molecular diagnostic and next generation sequencing analysis pipelines. This individual will also play a central role in evaluating and implementing new lab testing approaches and strategies for the company's evolving product portfolio. The Director – Senior Director, Bioinformatics will interact extensively with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing and/or directly contributing to clinical study planning and analyses. He will also interact heavily with the scientific advisory board. He will be expected to provide informatics and analytical expertise throughout the company and will be consulted extensively by associates, providing strategic input as appropriate. Primary Responsibilities: -Lead the development of a molecular diagnostic and next generation sequencing analysis pipeline; will be expected to lead a team of other bioinformaticians and support staff and lead the interaction of this team with other OmniSeq teams. -Develop and validate tools for statistical analysis of cancer sequencing information. -Work closely with the clinical team and the assay development team. -Monitor, identify, and help solve problems which arise during conduct of clinical studies affecting data management and data analysis. -Keep senior management team informed of progress and issues impacting project goals. -Manage outsourcing of clinical data management arid statistical analyses, including reviewing and approving contracts, scope of work and budgets, as well as providing technical expertise in audits. -Serve as an influential member of the leadership team. Primary Requirements: -MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or closely related fields, PhD highly preferred. -Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with next generation sequencing analysis. -2+ years of management with at least 1 direct report. -Experience with Ion Torrent sequencing platform required. -Proficient in programing languages such as Python, BASH, etc.. -Experience with other aspects of information technology preferred. -Experience with database management and programming such as MySQL, Oracle, etc. preferred. -Position requires individual to reside in Buffalo, NY. -Must be eligible to work in the U.S. as sponsorship is NOT available.
