Job Description:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position linked to an AHRC-funded project entitled: "The Easter E.g. - Shifting Baselines and Changing Perceptions of Biological and Cultural 'Aliens". This project will explore the origins of Easter and larger questions related to cultural and biological 'aliens' by integrating evidence from anthropology, (zoo) archaeology, (art) history, evolutionary biology, law, historical linguistics, natural history and religious studies.

The successful candidate will be based in Oxford at the Palaeogenomics and Bio-Archaeology Research Network (Palaeo-BARN) under the supervision of Professor Greger Larson.

The PDRA will work in close collaboration with the project's archaeologists (University of Nottingham), linguists (University of Leicester) and a wider research network across the UK and Europe to integrate ancient genetic data (generated at the Palaeo-BARN) of animal species associated with Easter. The PDRA will also be expected to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research development and extend their research portfolio.

Applicants must have a PhD in bioinformatics, population genomics, evolutionary genetics, animal genomics, or related discipline. A demonstrated track record of publications is desirable, as is experience working with ancient or degraded DNA.
