Job Description:
We are seeking to recruit a Research Associate to work within the newly created National Mesothelioma Centre. The National Mesothelioma Centre includes Imperial College London’s National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), the Royal Brompton and Royal Marsden Hospitals, and the Institute for Cancer Research (ICR). Professors William Cookson and Miriam Moffatt lead programs into the genomic causes of mesothelioma and lung cancer at the NHLI. The Research Associate/Bioinformatician is required to work on a project on the genomics of mesothelioma and lung cancer. The aim of the project is to use state-of-the-art genome technologies to investigate the molecular genetic and cellular basis of lung and pleural cancers with the long-term goal of finding ways to intervene in their development and progression. The project will involve analysis of genome wide epigenetic and transcriptomic data and the interpretation of results to identify unique and shared networks of gene regulation and expression. You should have a PhD in Bioinformatics, computational biology or a closely related discipline, or equivalent high level work experience. A good understanding of computer programming in the R environment and previous experience with handling epigenetic and transcriptomic data is essential. The post is full-time and fixed-term, available for three years and will be based at the NHLI at the Royal Brompton campus.
