Job Description:
We are looking for the research group Bioanalytical Chemistry (Dr. Schwudke) at this time for a postdoctoral researcher (m/w) for the period of three years starting as soon as possible. We seek a talented and highly motivated bioinformatician, informatician or computer scientist to implement informatics services for lipidomics research as part of the German Network for Bioinformatics-Infrastructure initiative (de.NBI). Job Description: Implementation of general scoring algorithm for lipid identification using high resolution mass spectrometry (Herzog et al. Genome Biology 2011, Schwudke et al. Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Biology 2011) Expand and implement the concept of lipidome homology using LUX-score for a web application (Marella et al. PLOS Computational Biology 2015) Collaborate with our Partners of the ‘Lipidomics Informatics for Life-Science’ – LIFS consortia at the ISAS, Dortmund (R. Ahrends) and MPI-CBG, Dresden (A. Shevchenko) Built together with our partners a lipidome resource applying Gene Ontology Manage and maintain web services. Qualification: PhD in bioinformatics, informatics or computer sciences Profound knowledge in algorithms and programming languages such as JAVA, C++, Python or Perl Experience in software development, protection and care of bioinformatics infrastructure, multi-processing and web applications Understanding of mass spectrometric concepts, OMICs (ESI, high resolution MS, MSn, LC-MSn) Experience in multivariate data analysis and bioinformatics Strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills. Excellent communication skills in English are required, German skills would be advantageous Our offer: Work in a motivated interdisciplinary team Project development and interaction together with scientist of LIFS and de.NBI.
