Job Description:
Fantastic opportunity to join a growing Data Sciences team in a rapidly expanding company! We are looking for a Data Scientist to extract value from existing and new data sources to discover actionable insights, deliver high value solutions, and drive new business opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large data sets to discover business insights
  • Interpret and communicate analytic results to technical and non-technical business partners and executive decision makers
  • Visualize and report data findings creatively in a variety of formats for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Interpret problems and develop solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, machine learning techniques, and statistics
  • Apply statistical modeling, machine learning, experimental design, optimization, simulation, and operational research to solve business problems
  • Partner with internal teams to define and prioritize informational requirements
  • Display strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of management
  • Design A/B tests to evaluate behaviors
  • Develop and update data models, tracking results against forecasts, and re-specifying when required
  • Research and evaluate new analytical methodologies, approaches and solutions
  • Evaluate third-party analysis tools for possible use within the company

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to perform thorough analysis of complex data, draw sound conclusions, and devise actionable strategies
  • Expertise in predictive modeling and machine learning
  • Expertise in database design and a working knowledge of SQL
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical programming languages (i.e. R, Python, MatLab) and application to data mining/machine learning algorithms
  • Exceptional analytic, inductive and deductive reasoning skills
  • Strong mathematical and statistics skills
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
  • Ability to independently analyze needs, document requirements, develop solutions, and implement systems
  • Proven ability to think and work in an organized and effective manner in an environment that has rapidly shifting and often contradictory demands and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (both written and oral) including the ability to communicate complex technical/statistical concepts to a non-technical audience

Education and Experience:

Education:

MS or PhD degree in a relevant technical field (i.e. Bioinformatics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, Physics, Math, Finance) is required.

Required Experience:

  • 1 or more years of relevant industry experience with a proven track record of leveraging data analysis to drive significant business impact
  • 1 or more years of experience using a programming language (i.e. R, Python) in analytical modeling and algorithm development
  • 1 or more years of experience manipulating large datasets and using SQL to query databases
Preferred Experience :
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in data extraction, data manipulation and analysis
  • Experience with Unix/Linux system architecture and command line tools
  • Experience with scripting languages required, such as python, bash, AWK or perl
  • Experience with advanced data systems, preferably Hadoop, Hive and MySQL
  • Experience with complex computational systems
  • Experience with data visualization technologies such as d3, HighCharts, matplotlib or Tableau
    • Requirements:
    • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%.
