Job Description:
Vividion Therapeutics is seeking a versatile computational biologist to contribute to the identification and development of novel small-molecule drugs. Vividion is a privately held biotechnology company based in San Diego that is leveraging an innovative and proprietary chemical proteomics platform to efficiently discover novel drugs in multiple areas including oncology and immunology.

As an early stage startup company, Vividion is looking for energetic candidates with a desire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment. The successful candidate will develop and maintain tools for analyzing proteomic data, and contextualize results by integrating with various sources of biological information. The candidate will learn and extend Vividion’s existing code-base to develop web-based pipelines and analytical tools that provide novel insights for biologists and chemists. This individual will also be responsible for developing and maintaining pipelines for processing large-scale proteomics datasets; creating, modifying, and maintaining web-based data-mining tools; integrating data with publicly accessible databases to provide novel insights.

Requirements

Experience and education requirements:

• Strong programming skills in perl or equivalent (python, ruby, etc)

• Strong web-development skills (HTML, CSS, JS)

• Strong background in biology, chemistry, chemical biology, mass-spectrometry, or related

• Proficiency with databases (e.g. MySQL) and database design

• Proficiency developing in a command-line, Linux/Unix environment

• Demonstrated ability to interrogate large datasets to address scientific hypotheses

• Degree (PhD preferred) in Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field

Desired skills and experience:

• Familiarity with mass-spectrometry based proteomics

• Familiarity with drug discovery/development; familiarity with chemoinformatic technologies is a plus

• Deep familiarity with public databases (UniProt, Ensembl, TCGA, CCLE, etc)

• Expertise with SQL database design and performance optimization

• Flexibility and an enthusiasm for learning new technologies
