Job Description:
Under direct supervision, applies professional bioinformatics concepts and computational procedures to complete small projects or portions of projects. Works on assignments of limited scope and complexity. Follows standard programming procedures to analyze situations and data from which answers can be readily obtained.

Designs, prototypes, implements, and benchmarks scalable algorithms in Structural Bioinformatics using Big Data frameworks for distributed, parallel computing. Develops scripting frameworks and tutorials to make these algorithms easily accessible to users. Applies Machine Learning, including Deep Learning to problems in Bioinformatics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Basic knowledge of bioinformatics methods and data structures. Advanced knowledge about protein structure and structural bioinformatics.

-Basic knowledge of applications programming and web development. Experience using IDEs, such as Eclipse, and source code repositories, such as Git.

-Advanced experience in software development using Python and Java. Experience with Python libraries, such as Numpy and Scikit. Experience using Jupyter or iPython Notebook. Experience with BioPython or BioJava libraries.

-Knowledge of Big Data frameworks, such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.

-In-depth knowledge of Machine Learning, in particular Artificial Neural Networks and application to bioinformatics. Experience with Keras and TensorFlow Deep Learning libraries. Experience with training and validating Artificial Neural Networks.
