Job Description:
Amgen Job Description The Amgen Postdoctoral program is committed to providing future scientists with an enriching environment to inspire innovation that will contribute to the development of human therapeutics.

The Comparative Biology and Safety Science (CBSS) department at Amgen Inc. is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for developing and applying new computational approaches for safety assessment relevant to humans during preclinical development stage. The duration of the fellowship is three years. This position will work with a cross-functional team to explore if genetic risk factors for adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are predictable based upon known properties of a drug combined with human genetics and genomics data as a critical task of the CBSS Translational Safety Program. The work will involve further identification of pathways and genes with causal or known links to ADRs directly in humans using various data types in order to develop assays in human-centric test systems during preclinical evaluation and to discover putative biomarkers for exclusion of high risk subpopulation of patients with genetic predisposition from clinical trials.

The end-product of this postdoc project will integrate relevant GWAS data with various functional genomics data and tools to develop a platform for discovering and evaluating genes that link genetic variants to disease/toxicity-phenotypes of interest. With resources in CBSS Computational Biology group, computing infrastructure, databases/tools, and cross-functional interactions, the role will receive state-of-art training in the area of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology in a stimulating environment with real-world challenges. This position will likely have opportunities to publish scientific results and computational methodologies. Basic Qualifications PhD at the time of appointment Preferred Qualifications PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field Experience in developing computational approaches and analyzing GWAS data Proven ability and willingness to work with multidisciplinary teams Strong written and oral communication skills and self-motivation Experience in drug discovery and development process and knowledge of technology platforms Additional Info Amgen will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
