Listing Info Analyst - Information Technology and Data Analysis R&D-1401038 Description Dow AgroSciences R&D is looking for a Scientific Software Developer to work within the Information Technology and Data Analysis (ITDA) group developing and delivering research informatics solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary research scientists as well as with software developers in the identification, design, development and implementation of research applications in the Rapid Solution Delivery Group. The selected candidate must have the potential to manage a large portfolio of projects. The selected candidate must have the potential to excel in a fast-paced and changing environment. This position provides a talented individual a great opportunity to learn about the exciting science of crop protection and crop development and the wide variety of methods, software tools and IT systems needed to support it. Responsibilities The successful candidate for this position is expected to perform the following job responsibilities:
  • Develop professional rapid impact software solutions for R&D
  • Lead software development projects
  • Participate in life cycle management of projects from Rapid Solution Delivery Group
  • Participate in project prioritizations within Rapid Solution Delivery Group
  • Participate in managing a large portfolio of projects
  • Participate in software architecture design decisions
  • Identify unmet needs and turn them into project proposals
  • Train end users
  • Support software tools
  • Consult on methods and science to be implemented
This position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA at Dow AgroSciences' global headquarters. Qualifications
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Industry experience (minimum 2 years, prefer 5 years) preferred
  • Experience in developing professional scientific software preferred
  • Experience in project management preferred
  • Previous project leadership or Six-Sigma experience is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of C# or Java is required
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL is required
  • Knowledge of Pipeline Pilot or KNIME or similar platforms is preferred
  • Knowledge of interactive visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau) is desirable
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of SharePoint development is a plus
  • Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, but able and willing to understand the bigger picture.
  • Successful candidates should have the desire and the ability to learn and understand scientific work processes.

  • Understanding of software development processes and methodologies such as life-cycle management
  • Experience in developing scientific applications
  • Ability to participate in system development discussions is a plus
