Job Description:

You will be responsible for design and implementation of scientific applications supporting NIBR's drug discovery efforts, as e.g. sample and screening plate logistics or data analysis frameworks for advanced high-content assay technologies. You will closely work with NIBR's research scientists to translate requirements into useful software, and with informatics teams to leverage and integrate with other systems and services. You would collaborate on project teams with other engineers, scientists, infrastructure experts and user experience designers.

Major Accountabilities: Join a project in mid-swing, be responsible for rapidly learning the code base and tools and start contributingWork with project managers of dependent software projects both in our team and in software groups within the businessCollect, understand and analyze user requirements and be able to communicate them to the implementation teamsUse JIRA, Confluence, Subversion, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and other tools to implement best practices in documentation, test-driven development, continuous integration, and iterative development lifecycleBased on user requirements write clean, well-designed, maintainable code, employing OOP principles and standard design patternsCommit code to our existing systems and contribute technically to new projects in our dynamic global IT environment

Minimum requirements: Master- or Bachelor in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related disciplineWe are looking for five to seven years of working experienceDemonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a teamExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsProven ability to work effectively across multiple teamsAbility to communicate and understand complex concepts in both technical and non-technical termsProven record of building effective, efficient, and user friendly toolsExcellent understanding of computer systems architecture, data integration concepts and experience in deploymentProven ability to work comfortably in multiple programming languages with an orientation toward implementation of web and service oriented applicationsSolid programming skills in at least one high level language (e.g. C#, Java)Knowledge and experience implementing and consuming web services (SOAP/REST)Knowledge of web architecture and technologies, such as IIS, Apache Tomcat, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS and bootstrapKnowledge of and experience in PL/SQL in any relational databases for example Oracle RDMS

Preferred RequirementsExperience with all layers of the development stack in a tiered architecture, e.g. presentation, service, domain logic and databaseDeveloper with experience in the Microsoft thick client development stackBasic knowledge of Windows & Unix/Linux scripting and administrationBasic knowledge in Maven, Gradle or Ivy driven Java projectsHas worked with big data technologies such as Apache Spark or CassandraPrior experience developing scientific applications in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment

Skills: Bioinformatics;OOP;C#/Java.
