You must be able to learn quickly, creatively solve problems, and have a deep understand of NGS technologies. You should also have experience running commonly used data analysis tools. Additionally, you must have strong data analysis and data review skills. A thirst for digging into data to fully understand exceptions and corner cases is a must. Key Responsibilities :
- Develop analysis pipelines to take advantage of the unique 10x data types.
- Prototype new computational methodologies to support novel analytical uses.
- Assess early developed modules and integrated prototypes.
- Produce proof-of-concept analysis to demonstrate the unique power of the 10x Genomics platform internally and externally.
- Work with core product development teams to improve products and enable novel applications as driven by the scientific community.
- Work with key scientists to develop new applications that take advantage of 10x technology.
- Assist in study design for product validation and verification.
- Develop scientific materials to be used in webinars or other platforms to highlight the advantages of the 10x genomic platform.
- PhD or equivalent in one of the following bioinformatics, computational biology, statistical genetics, population genomics, cancer genomics or clinical genomics.
- Strong interest in applying analytical tools to solve important and interesting biological problems
- Extensive experience analyzing NGS data sets using Python or R, and with existing NGS data sources (e.g., Illumina, Ion Torrent, PacBio, etc.)
- Extensive experience with statistical methods commonly used in genomics
- Experience with various machine learning methods
- Hands-on experience with structural variant calling and/or single-cell RNA-Seq data tools
- Proficiency with the command line and source control
- Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot complex problems and to work independently, and effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
- An eagerness to dramatically improve NGS tools and NGS assays
- Driven to find novel applications of an exciting and novel form of NGS data that enables a wide array of previously unachievable applications
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills demonstrated with peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
- Demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with customers or external collaborators
- Experience in systems biology
- Knowledge of RNA or cellular biology in cancer or immunology contexts
- Knowledge with general experimental designs and laboratory assays including real-time PCR and droplet digital PCR
- Understanding of gene editing methods including CRISPR
