Job Description:

The Division of Biology at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the 2015-16 academic year. We seek a colleague who will establish a vigorous, extramurally funded research program in developmental biology. We encourage applications from candidates addressing important developmental questions using interdisciplinary approaches, with strengths in areas such as genetics, genomics, evolutionary biology, systems biology, biophysics, imaging and modeling.

The Division of Biology is a large, diverse unit with a strong record of research productivity in the overlapping disciplines of molecular, cell, and developmental biology; microbiology and immunology; and evolution and ecology, as well as interdisciplinary efforts that bridge these research areas (http://www.ksu.edu/biology). The successful candidate will complement existing research strengths and contribute to graduate and undergraduate instruction of a diverse student population. A Ph.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral training are required. The position will include a competitive 9-month salary and start-up package. Kansas State University is located in Manhattan, a dynamic university community in the scenic Flint Hills of northeastern Kansas.

To apply, email the following in a single PDF file with “Dev Biol” in the subject line to biology@ksu.edu: 1) a one-page cover letter describing the significance of your research accomplishments, personal attributes that make you successful and how you see yourself integrating into the Division of Biology; 2) a current CV; 3) up to three selected reprints; 4) A three-page research plan detailing your current and proposed research, funding strategies and areas of potential synergy with KSU faculty; and 5) a one-page statement of teaching interests and philosophy. Letters from three referees should be sent separately to biology@ksu.edu, using “Dev Biol – Name of Applicant” in the subject line. Questions can be directed to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Susan J. Brown (sjbrown@ksu.edu). Review of complete applications will begin Dec. 8, 2014, and continue until the position is filled. KSU is an equal opportunity employer of individuals with disabilities and protected veterans and actively seeks diversity among its employees. A background check is required.
