The Biology Department at Stonehill College invites applicants for an assistant professor, tenure-track appointment in Biology to begin July 2018. This person would join a department of twelve full-time faculty with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity among faculty and students. We seek applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates and who have a demonstrated awareness of the importance of diversity in education. We are particularly interested in candidates who have expertise in analysis of big data, modeling, bioinformatics, genomics/transcriptomics, biostatistics, and/or computational methods. Research programs that are theoretical, wet lab-based, field-based, or a combination of approaches will be supported. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in biology or computational biology (or related discipline), and have postdoctoral research and undergraduate teaching experience. The position involves teaching, advising, and directing a productive research program with undergraduates. Primary teaching duties include teaching introductory biology lecture and labs, and creating two new bioinformatics courses (introductory & advanced) to augment the Data Science minor.
