Job Description:
Assistant Professor of Translational Bioinformatics (Research)University of ArizonaCenter for Biomedical Informatics and BiostatisticsUSA-AZ-Tucson We are looking for an outstanding computational systems biologist or a translational bioinformatician (bioinformatics), to join the Lussier Research Group of The University of Arizona as Research Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate will be a skilled technologist with superior written communication skills and strong analytical and interpersonal skills. The candidate should demonstrate the capacity to identify and solve novel analytical problems requiring methods development and innovation. A successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who can work independently, and at the same time be a team player capable of working with collaborators and scientific team members.
This successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Yves A. Lussier, Professor of Medicine, Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics, and Associate Vice President for Health Sciences.
Salaries and appointment will be competitive and commensurate with the experience and grant funding.

Required QUalifications:
* Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative science (e.g. computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, physics, etc).
* Graduate Degree (e.g. PhD, MD, PharmD, etc).
* At least three years' experience or training in computational biology or translational bioinformatics.
Preferred qualifications
* Over 4 years programming experience.
* Familiarity with the Linux &/or Unix computing environments required and previous experience implementing processes in a grid and/or CLOUD environment.
* Experience with the challenges of short read sequencing technologies.
* Experience with challenges in gene expression, copy number variation, and other genetic anomalies.
* Highly proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, R).
