Job Description:
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core Facility, is seeking a Bioinformatics Assistant Scientist (Bioinformatician). A doctoral degree is required, with data analysis expertise in high dimensional data analysis for next generation sequencing, and relevant experience (clinical, laboratory or epidemiological studies). Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written) are required. The individual will be responsible for initiating and maintaining independent research collaborations with SCCC clinicians and basic scientists, and working collaboratively with members of the division on research and development projects. The individual will provide up-to-date bioinformatics expertise for analyzing cancer genomic and epigenomic data. The analyses include but are not limited to: gene expression analysis for transcriptome profiling and/or gene regulatory network building, microRNA target analysis, genome or transcriptome assembly from next generation sequencing data, and its visualization, SNP functionality analysis. Will collaborate with Cancer Center investigators on experimental design and subsequent high-throughput genomic data analysis. “Job descriptions are not intended, and should not be construed to be exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with a job. Qualified candidate must possess one year Ph.D. level experience, with statistical expertise in clinical, laboratory or epidemiological studies. Experience with epigenomic data processing and integration are highly desirable. Familiarity with ENCODE, NIH Roadmap Epigenomics, TCGA and other public genomic / epigenomic databases are preferred. Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
