Job Description:
Analyzes and evaluates findings. Organizes and conceptualizes ideas leading to proposals. Writes technical summaries and publications. Prepares and makes formal presentations of research results. Is considered the principal investigator on grants. Is established as co-author or senior author of proposals, journal articles, and technical reports. High level of knowledge in statistical evaluation of scientific research processes, procedures, and objectives. Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline required. Must possess knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis. Must have significant experience in analyzing and evaluating data. General level of knowledge of project management, decision-making, and analytical skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to develop and implement innovative computational approaches for analyzing trauma data, including but not limited to, ER data, emergency service data, trauma surgery data and others. Duties of the Biostatistician will involve working with a variety of clinicians in the general area of surgery (including but not limited to trauma, orthopedics, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, epidemiology of rural health care). Biostatistician will be expected to perform power analyses, support clinical trials, perform statistical analyses in a low-staff environment, assist and lead in manuscript preparation, and assist in grant submission and grant service. The candidate will be working in a collaborative environment with multiple faculty members on trauma research and analysis. A portion of the position will involve general biostatistics in a wider clinical portfolio. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field. Exceptional candidates with a M.S. in one of these fields will also be considered. Excellent and clear communications skills in English (both verbal and written) are required. Previous consultation experience with clinicians is a plus. Excellence in SAS is preferred, although R-using candidates are also encouraged to apply.
