Job Description:

The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Rochester is seeking highly qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with an emphasis on research and education. Emphasis will be placed on, but not limited to, applicants pursuing research in cell signaling through G-protein-coupled receptors and/or ion channels. The successful applicant will receive a competitive start-up package and be expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program and to contribute toward graduate- and medical-school teaching. The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology offers an outstanding research environment with established strengths in cell signaling mechanisms related to many different physiological models and pathological conditions, especially those in the cardiovascular and nervous systems. The University of Rochester Medical Center and the adjacent Schools of Arts, Sciences and Engineering are part of a world-class life sciences research campus, providing excellent opportunities for interactions and collaborations.

Candidates must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent, have already demonstrated significant research achievement, and have the potential to attract extramural funding. Candidates for the Associate Professor position should also have an established track record of peer-reviewed publications, demonstrated success in attracting extramural research funding, and evidence of teaching excellence. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to the research and educational missions of the Department, excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic approach to collaborative research efforts.
