Job Description:
The incumbent will: conduct research on novel methods and applications of biostatistics and/or biomedical informatics; collaborate with investigators at UW-Madison and/or its partner institutions in areas of biomedical informatics; present research at national and international meetings, and publish results in leading biostatistics, statistical genetics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, and/or biomedical journals appropriate to areas of application; teach at least one course per year; and participate in the training and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. The incumbent will need to develop his or her own independent research program in biostatistics and/or biomedical informatics. Attracting and maintaining external funding are expected of the position. The incumbent will also participate in professional, university and community service appropriate to the faculty rank. DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Sciences or a closely related quantitative area. MINIMUM NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Years of experience will be commensurate with rank sought. All candidates much have proven success in conducting research appropriate to their stage of career. Associate/full Professor candidates must possess experience and scholarly credentials for appointment with tenure at UW-Madison.
