Connexion Systems & Engineering, a Boston based IT and Engineering Solutions Company immediately seeks individuals with the following skills: Duties: As an associate bioinformatics scientist in our oncology business unit, you will play an integral role in supporting product development of genomics-based solutions for oncology. Primary responsibilities will include analysis of next-gen sequencing data, novel algorithm design and providing general bioinformatics support to teams within the oncology business unit. Job duties include but are not limited to: -Employ the latest methods in bioinformatics to oncology-related next-gen sequencing data sets. -Provide support to ongoing projects in fast paced research and product development environments. -Engage in collaborative research and publications. -Maintain familiarity with current scientific computing approaches. -Maintain familiarity with the field of oncology. -Keep detailed lab notebooks, prepare reports, invention disclosures, updates and summaries for managers and teams as directed. -Skills: Demonstrated accomplishment in some or all of the following skills is preferred: -Proficiency in Perl/Python, Matlab/R, and/or C/C++/C#. -Understanding & usage of bioinformatics algorithms. -Critical-thinking skills and experience in managing/interpreting large biological datasets. -Next Gen sequencing technology, tool usage, and data analysis is a plus. -Superior written and verbal communication skills. Education: -B.S. or M.S. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or related field. -Background in oncology or clinical experience a plus.
