Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the information technology (IT) and computing needs of alliances with Biogen(BIIB) strategic research partners and collaborators to ensure their smooth functioning. Responsible for leading the communications, progress monitoring and decision making processes to effectively manage the data collection, processing, transfer and sharing needs of each alliance towards the mutual success of both partners. The role requires anticipating and addressing business issues with our alliance partners. Must be able to organize and manage project prioritization and governance committees (internal and with strategic partners).
* Build and maintain strong and collaborative partnerships. Serve as an advocate for the overall partnership and its objectives; mitigate business risk, legal uncertainties, and human relationship risk. Drive strategic, operational, and cultural alignment to meet co-determined objectives. Form a strong link with the respective functions/individuals within BIIB to ensure smooth operations of the collaboration.
* Act as the primary point of IT contact for partners. Lead the alliance governance process for IT. Represent IT in internal BIIB pre-meetings to align positions and interests, manage meetings and issue agendas and minutes, and follow-up on action points.
* Drive resolution of conflicts, actively identify, support and sponsor opportunities to expand or reduce partnership scope, negotiate changes to partnership agreements. Work with Law Department to manage legal agreements, including tracking of legal obligations.
* Maintain an organized record of exchanged information, agreements and action items. Perform database management to capture key partnership documents and actions; ensure cross-functional implementation of contract. Develop tools to assess the health of partnerships; manage partnership reporting to Management.
* Transfer IT learnings and partnership best practices to new transactions, negotiations and governance. Consult on the formation of new partnership agreements, highlighting specific IT obligations and deliverables under the agreement.
* Owns the multi-year IT roadmap for each alliance.

Qualifications
•A minimum of 10+ years of related industry experience
•Cross-organizational collaboration experience in pharma / biotech, independent research institutes, academia, public-private partnerships, government
•Broad experience in delivery of IT solutions across data collection, processing, transfer and sharing with internal and external collaborators
• Track record of developing or contributing to new project proposals or new information technologies in pursuit of R&D objectives, drawing on well-developed interdisciplinary knowledge
•Previous exposure to senior management (presentations, proposals, etc) Strategic, yet detail oriented and able to think and manage across disciplines to inject a degree of business rigor and consistency in achieving performance and results with respect to goals. Role will be responsible for managing multiple collaborations. Significant impact on major R&D projects as well as cross-functional IT planning and operations. Impact extends to external collaborators. Influences leaders across the organization. Regularly has significant interaction with individuals across IT and R&D functions. Communicates very effectively with subordinates, peers and senior management within and outside IT and R&D. Is a highly influential contributor to operational and strategic discussions. Ability to manage and resolve potential conflicts with alliance partners. Thinks strategically and then translates strategy into operational activities. Handles complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously mixing long-term goals with the urgency of immediate demands. * Collaborates with and achieves actionable results in partnership with others, build strong and sustainable relationships and interact within all levels of the organization as required. * Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. High degree of comfort dealing with ambiguity. * Is bold and can manage courageously. Should be able to demonstrate a track record of thinking outside the box and successfully challenging the status quo * Can drive projects to completion within tight timelines * Good knowledge of and interest in drug discovery and development, preferably comes from a research background. * Is business savvy and can navigate the complexities of a multi-faceted, fast paced environment. * Demonstrable abilities to translate complex business and scientific terms and conditions into strategic and operational IT and computing elements for both internal and external parties * Working knowledge of most relevant business relationships within the company and with external partners * Superb written and verbal communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills. Capacity to work cross-functionally and to influence people without direct authority.
Education
