We invite applications for one or more partial tenured/partial In Residence faculty positions in FMPH's Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics with a dual focus on collaborative and primary methods research. These positions will have partial state funding. Opportunities are available for a leadership position within UCSD's Clinical and Translational Research Institute as Director of Biostatistical Collaboration, and for a faculty biostatistician position joint with the Department of Neurosciences, a national leader in neurosciences research.

The Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics sits within the research-intensive environment of UC San Diego School of Medicine, which has research funding of nearly $1 billion annually. The Division has a robust record of outstanding research in both methodological biostatistics and in interdisciplinary, collaborative biomedical research. The Division offers a PhD degree in Biostatistics, and we support major research initiatives in Alzheimer's Disease, HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Pediatrics, and Public Health.

UCSD's Clinical and Translational Research Institute provides a hub for basic, translational, and clinical research throughout the San Diego region. The Biostatistics unit within CTRI is responsible for Biostatistics education, consultation and collaboration, including outreach to research groups across UCSD School of Medicine, support of large research proposals and development of long term statistical collaboration.

The Department of Neurosciences, which leads the nation in NIH research dollars, has been at the forefront of research in neurobiology, clinical neuroscience and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases since 1991. The Department has need of outstanding statistical expertise across basic science studies, design and analysis of NIH-sponsored and/or FDA compliant clinical trials, image analysis, genomic and proteomic studies, prognostic modeling and other areas.

The successful candidate(s) will have a strong track record of externally funded and impactful publication in collaborative biomedical research and a vigorous research program in statistical methodology. All research areas of biostatistics and applied statistics are welcome; excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent managerial or administrative experience is preferred for the leadership position at CTRI; an outstanding program of relevant methods research is preferred for the Neurosciences position. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related field and will be expected to teach in the graduate program in Biostatistics or in other Departmental initiatives. The Department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service which contribute to an equitable, inclusive and diverse scholarly environment.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with University of California pay scales. Review of applicants will begin on November 25, 2015, and the positions will remain open until filled. AA-EOE: The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
