Associate Director, Research
Center for Biomedical Informatics and Personalized Medicine

The Associate Director of Personalized Medicine, Research, will oversee the development and implementation of research efforts within the BIPM Center. The primary efforts of this Associate Director will be focused on building research infrastructure that networks and leverages the resources available within BIPM including COMPASS , TICR , BIPM Biorepository Project (biobank), Molecular Diagnostics and the Research Faculty housed within the Division of Biomedical Informatics and Personalized Medicin

Core Responsibilities for the Associate Director of Research will include
• Analyze current research opportunities within BIPM as the Center and Division grow with an emphasis on opportunities available as a result of data growth within COMPASS and UCHealth Biobank. This will include running operations of analysts within TICR with a focus on data grown and avenues of research that arise with the data growth.
• Network between the components of BIPM including COMPASS , TICR , BIPM Biorepository Project (biobank) and Molecular Diagnostics to identify opportunities for research and engage in BIPM divisional Faculty involvement in building the research portfolio of BIPM .
• Work with industry partners to extend current genotype, sequencing and bioinformatics partnerships with a focus on building research avenues within BIPM .
• Create and implement a working group model to bring together the components of BIPM under the umbrella of research.
• Create and foster mentorship activities to enhance the engagement of trainees and students in BIPM research.
• Help create, maintain and manage relationships with funding providers including government and private sector to help foster research funding opportunities within BIPM .
• Interface and provide updates on the status of research activities as needed to the UCHealth Senior Executive Group ( SEG ) and the UCHealth Board of Directors.

Minimum Qualifications
We a looking for a faculty level candidate with a Doctorate degree in a relevant field and experience in areas described above
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and abilities
The Associate Director of Research must possess multi-disciplinary skills to be successful in bridging gaps and building the network between the various components of BIPM . Specifically, we are seeking a senior level faculty member with the following skills:
• Expertise in data management and interrogation especially with regards to big data scenarios.
• Expertise in epidemiology and study design.
• In depth knowledge of current state of the art technologies and advancements in genetics and genomics.
• Strong relationships with Industry Partners in the field to facilitate the enhancement of these relationships.
• Understanding of computational and bioinformatics opportunities and resources.
• Prior experience coordinating large research programs and recognition in the field for such.
• A strong track record of independent grant funding.
• Demonstration of the ability to bring creative research ideas to fruition and bring together a team of researches for the common good of a scientific endeavor.
Desired Qualifications
PhD or equivalent in Epidemiology with an emphasis on Genetics and Bioinformatics.
