Job Description:
Columbia University's Department of Biomedical Informatics is seeking an Associate Research Scientist. The position is open to a researcher with strong experience in genetics to join the lab of Dr. Chunhua Weng. The ideal candidate will join an interdisciplinary team and work on an NIH-funded project for using EHR data for phenotyping. The preferred skills include but are not limited to Semantic Web, Ontologies, EHR phenotyping, clinical terminologies, OHDSI common data models, natural language processing, data quality, and data modeling. More importantly, this candidate is expected to have the skills to forge interdisciplinary research and knows how to integrate input from clinical domain experts, knowledge from the literature, and data-driven approaches to advance EHR phenotyping sciences.

Minimum Degree Required: doctoral degree

Minimum Qualifications:

All applicants MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.

Applicants must have a PhD in Computer science, Bioinformatics, Health Informatics or similar with demonstrable Statistical Computing, Phenotyping, Pharmacovigilance, Usage of Linux systems, Analytical platform, Graph Modeling and Computational skills.

The candidate will mentor students or trainees and guide them in related research. The candidate is expected to initiate or contribute to multiple collaborative scientific projects with other eMERGE investigators at Columbia or with other eMERGE sites. The candidate is expected to publish quality papers in premier informatics or clinical journals and conferences.
