Job Description:
Columbia University is looking for a highly motivated scientist to lead the analysis of large-scale genome and transcriptome sequencing projects in JP Sulzberger Genome Center. The candidate will be affiliated with Department of Systems Biology, and work closely with experts in high-throughout sequencing, single cell analysis, and computational genomics in Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC).

The ideal candidate would have demonstrated expertise in RNA-Seq and genome sequence analysis, and deep understanding of genomics, genetics, and statistics, and excellent skills to communicate with both scientists and clinicians.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Design and establish robust and highly automated computational pipelines to analyze RNA-Seq, exome, and genome sequencing data.

- Lead data analysis in pilot projects with new technologies.

- Lead data analysis in strategic collaborations of the genome center in multidisciplinary team with individual research groups at CUMC.

- Lead or participate the drafting of manuscripts to report novel findings from research projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics, or equivalent.

- Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required.

- Demonstrated expertise in computational analysis of RNA-Seq, whole genome sequencing or exome sequencing data through publications or software.

- Strong programming skills. Substantial experience in R, scripting languages (e.g. Python), UNIX and high performance computing cluster.

- Substantial knowledge in one of these areas: human genetics, cancer biology, single cell RNA-Seq, or deep neural network approaches.

- Excellent communication skills in both writing and speaking.
