Job Description:
We seek a highly motivated Associate Scientist or Scientist to lead cancer immunotherapy biomarker development efforts in the Oncology Biomarker Development department at Genentech. This candidate will be part of multifunctional drug development teams and will be responsible for biomarker activities encompassing pharmacodynamic and mechanism of action biomarkers, predictive biomarkers, and companion diagnostics development.

The candidate must have expertise in cancer biology, cancer immunotherapy, translational research, and bioinformatics. The ideal candidate will have experience with analysis, integration, and interpretation of complex molecular datasets such as RNA-seq, DNA-seq, and multiplexed digital pathology. Finally, the successful candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, being able to work in a team setting as well as independently. Collaborative spirit, curiosity, creativity, initiative, and enthusiasm are essential.

Who You Are

  • You’re an individual with interest in advancing the oncology landscape via precision medicine who has demonstrated evidence for a systems biology approach to translational research and complex data analysis and interpretation.
  • PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g. cancer biology, immunology, pathology, or bioinformatics) and enthusiasm for further continued learning.
  • Demonstrated record of cutting-edge research as evidenced by first or senior authored publications in top-tier journals.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, and data visualization skills.
  • Ability to distill complex issues and clearly articulate solutions in a manner that is accessible to interdisciplinary audiences of scientists, statisticians, informaticians, and clinicians.
  • Experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, Python, or Perl for complex data analysis.
  • Ability to handle multiple and concurrent priorities in the context of fast-paced projects.
  • Ability to collaborate, lead, influence, and motivate others.
  • Ability to demonstrate effectiveness and growth in a dynamic environment.
Minimum qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience for Scientist position or
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience for Associate Scientist.
  • Post doc considered towards experience.
  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (cancer biology, immunology, pathology or bioinformatics)
