Located in beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine, The Jackson Laboratory is a leading global genetics research institute that is growing and seeking talented individuals to join the team.
As the Associate/Study Director, overall responsibilities will include ensuring studies are designed and executed to meet or exceed customer goals and expectations. The Associate/Study Director will be a key leader within the GET team that builds sound relationships with external customers as well as strong collaborative interactions with internal research staff. The incumbent captures project needs, develops study designs, and ensures effective project management, oversight and communication to forward their research while providing exceptional customer experience. The Associate/Study Director will be a key subject matter expert for internal staff and contributor to project troubleshooting and identifying and driving innovation efforts to maintain cutting-edge scientific techniques and improve service.
Key Responsibilities:
Study design and project oversight: Interfacing directly with customers and customer facing staff to assess customer needs and ensure accurate capture of project specifications. They develop detailed project plans and ensure plans are successfully tracked and seamlessly executed across teams to provide an excellent customer experience.
Innovation and continuous improvement: Role will involve being a key scientific contributor to the development and execution of innovation and improvement initiatives to ensure capacity, expand product offerings, improve service quality and customer experience.
Scientific support and customer interface: Serving as primary subject matter expert for internal operational teams supporting model development services as well as internal and external customers. Incumbent will provide strong leadership and scientific guidance to assist in troubleshooting project challenges. In order to build strong external customer relationships, traveling with field-based staff to customer sites to educate on model development capabilities will be required.
Required Skills
PhD in Life Sciences plus minimum of 4 years’ (or M.S. plus 7 years) experience in an academic setting, a contract research laboratory, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, or equivalent experience, with extensive exposure and hands-on experience in genetic engineering.
Fluent with genetic engineering technologies, animal modeling, molecular study design and animal research (preferably rodents) as well as use of current bioinformatics tools.
Minimum 2 years in a customer facing or service provision environment with demonstrated success in attaining customer satisfaction and issue resolution.
4 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong leadership skills including a demonstrated ability to build key relationships, influence and motivate others. Must have excellent human relation, communication and listening, negotiation and relationship skills.
Demonstrated success in making important decisions, often under pressure and tight deadlines.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to clear a Background Check and Consumer Credit Report prior to starting the new position.
