Job Description:

Status Full Time Job Posting Description SUMMARY

Bioinformatician II to play a leading role in bioinformatics collaboration, consulting, and education to physician scientists and basic research scientists on biomedical and translational research in the genetics of chronic kidney disease.

Responsibilities Including The Following

  • (1) Data Analysis: Play a leading role in the selection of bioinformatics method and the collection of experimental data. Act as a leader in bioinformatics research projects, managing and advising researchers on specification and conduct of bioinformatics analysis on whole exome sequence and high through put sequencing in renal disease (human genetics disease).
  • (2) Analysis Result Reports: Design, write, and oversee production of data analysis reports and presentations needed for managing the data analysis and monitor progress of projects.
  • (3) Manuscripts: Contribute to preparation of manuscripts including writing of bioinformatics methods and design, relevant results and data tables and graphs. Write and submit own manuscripts on bioinformatics research and analysis to relevant journals.
  • (4) Grants and Funding Solicitations: Contribute to preparation of grants including writing of bioinformatics methods and design, relevant summary of results using tables and graphs, and justifications of selections of specific bioinformatics approaches and data analysis pipelines as it pertains to higher through put sequencing to genetic kidney diseases.
  • (5) Consultation and collaboration: Collaborate and consult with investigators and researchers on design, collect, and analysis of biomedical research data.
  • (6) Mentoring: Provide mentoring to investigators, research residents and fellows, faculty and key research study staff in the lab and collaborators on basic and advanced design and analyses issues.
  • (7) Leadership and Administrative: Assist the PIs with administrating the data analysis responsibilities and other duties.
  • (8) Bioinformatics service: Provide positive and effective bioinformatics advice to lab and outside collaborators on joint projects.  Contribute to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs and other organizations.
  • (9) Compliance with Policies and Procedures: Ensure work in the lab, division, program, department, and other organizations is performed in conformance with established hospital, program, state, and federal policies and procedures.

Requirements

Must have MS in Bioinformatics, Informatics, Statistics or closely related field and 3 years of experience with independent bioinformatics consulting and analysis, assistance with protocol generation and collaboration in scientific writing.
