The successful candidate will focus on the development of novel algorithms/models and new tools 1) to mine large-scale plant functional “omics”, genotypic , and phenotypic data to study how genome-scale gene regulatory networks regulate biological processes, pathways, and complex traits; and 2) to enable precise, genome wide molecular marker-trait association analysis in plants by incorporating novel statistical genetics approaches. Other duties will include but are not limited to maintaining and further developing our integrative platform to study gene function and genome evolution in plants (e.g. http://plantgrn.noble.org/LegumeIP/), of which some functions will be incorporated into our ongoing development of knowledge discovery platform (http://plantgrn.noble.org/hrgrn/) for the integration, deciphering, and discovery of plant gene networks, genotype and phenotype associations. This research will be conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Patrick Xuechun Zhao and examples of related bioinformatics tool and data resource published by the Zhao Lab can be found on one of the Zhao Lab’s project websites at http://plantgrn.noble.org/. M.S. degree in computer science, electronic engineering or related bioinformatics and computational biology science field with 2 year of experience in bioinformatics, and/or genomics, and/or genetics required.Job Information
