Job Description:
Job Purpose: To support researchers and carry out independent computer-based research in the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR), perform data analysis and develop novel analytical approaches for viruses and virus-host interaction data sets. Typical data sets are from full viral genome sequencing projects, transcriptomic and proteomic experiments. The post holder will be involved in a range of virology projects spanning the research activities of the CVR and will work as an integral part of the Centre. Candidates with a background in bioinformatics, computational and systems biology, computer science, biostatistics and/or machine learning are encouraged to apply. We strongly encourage early career bioinformaticians to apply. Standard Terms & Conditions: Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 6, £28,098 - £31,604 / level 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum. This position is funded for 3 years. New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months. The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits. All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
