Purpose: Uses bioinformatics tools to analyze biological data for research projects. Responsibilities:
- Assist in bioinformatics data analysis and validation of bioinformatics pipelines.
- Assist in software deployment and improving software deployment plans.
- Bioinformatics pipeline development - e.g. variant calling, variant annotation, copy number analysis, gene expression analysis, and gene fusion identification.
- Effectively document and communicate pipeline development, maintenance, and validations.
- Improve and manage software testing and error handling for bioinformatics pipelines and web applications.
- Troubleshoot next-generation server hardware and software issues.
- User interface development - improve existing and create new user interfaces in Python/Django-based web applications, identify process improvements.
- Masters degree or equivalent education in bioinformatics or related discipline required.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, Python scripting, and some system administration experience is required.
- Experience with software development is preferred.
