Job Description:
Purpose:

Uses bioinformatics tools to analyze biological data for research projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in bioinformatics data analysis and validation of bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Assist in software deployment and improving software deployment plans.
  • Bioinformatics pipeline development - e.g. variant calling, variant annotation, copy number analysis, gene expression analysis, and gene fusion identification.
  • Effectively document and communicate pipeline development, maintenance, and validations.
  • Improve and manage software testing and error handling for bioinformatics pipelines and web applications.
  • Troubleshoot next-generation server hardware and software issues.
  • User interface development - improve existing and create new user interfaces in Python/Django-based web applications, identify process improvements.
Qualifications:
  • Masters degree or equivalent education in bioinformatics or related discipline required.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, Python scripting, and some system administration experience is required.
  • Experience with software development is preferred.
