Job Description:
We are now looking to recruit a Bioinformatician at PhD/early post-doctoral level with experience in mining, analyzing and integrating multi-dimensional data sets from different high-throughput biological experiments. Using DNA, RNA and ChIP-seq data generated by next generation sequencing technologies and high-end proteomic/mass spectrometry data sets, you will be key to further developing and expanding our biology platform.

This is an excellent development opportunity for a candidate looking to build their career in an innovative and world leading area of science, working with recognised experts in an emerging field of biology. This role is central to Storm’s scientific collaboration with the scientific founders’ laboratories and provides a unique opportunity to work at the academia/industry interface. You will be expected to promote your achievements with appropriate scientific publications, reports and presentations.

Candidate specification:

Essential requirements for this post include:

• PhD in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology or a related discipline.

• Experience in the use of relational databases, particularly in MySQL, and a scripting language, such as Perl or Python.

• Experience of additional languages, such as Java or C, is highly desirable.

• High-quality refereed publications as a demonstration of productivity.

The following attributes and skills are essential:

• Ability to work independently and deliver research projects to timescale & budget.

• Good presentational skills, both oral and written.

• Good inter personal skills and a track record of successful collaboration with immediate colleagues and across scientific discipline.

• Candidates should be legally entitled to work in the UK.
