Job Description:
Artios Pharma is currently recruiting a bioinformatician to work in collaboration with Dr. Serena Nik-Zainal at University of Cambridge / Sanger Institute. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world class research team in a new, dynamic, small Biotech company based on the Babraham Campus, Cambridge, UK. Artios is focused on identifying and developing cancer treatments by exploiting novel targets within the DNA damage response (DDR), a scientific area of high expectation following the clinical success of PARP inhibitors. The company is actively building an exciting portfolio of unique DNA repair projects.

Outline of the role :

You will join a small research team within this innovative and expanding company. Reporting to the Head of Discovery Biology your primary responsibility will be to build and support all bioinformatics activities, either internally or externally. You will take a lead in defining the strategies that Artios will use to develop its platform of DDR projects. Specifically, you will provide computational science and bioinformatics expertise to the project teams during the discovery and development phases of small molecule drug discovery programs including their translational stages. You will also have opportunities to work in multi-disciplinary collaborations with external scientists and leading academics such as Dr. Serena Nik-Zainal at University of Cambridge / Sanger Institute.

Qualifications and Experience :

• Ph.D. or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or related field with significant relevant working experience.

• Knowledge and use of scripting language e.g. Perl or Python, Unix/Linux and Windows batch scripting

• Familiarity with statistical analysis of data and data visualisation

Duties and responsibilities:

• Represent bioinformatics discipline as part of the drug discovery project teams by providing a broad range of support for target validation, disease linkage, biomarker identification and resistance mechanisms:

o Proactively identify opportunities and propose informatics solutions

o Develop new approaches, tools and infrastructure in order to provide bioinformatics capabilities for answering biological questions

o Independently carry out informatics analysis

o Summarize and present scientific results with clear conclusions and recommendations

• Communication:

o Proactively communicate activities and status to your supervisor and key stakeholders

o Generate technical documents, external publications and presentations
