Job Description:
Dr. Arnaud Krebs’s group is looking for a bioinformatician to integrate the lab within the Genome Biology unit of EMBL. The group develops and applies genomics technologies to understand basic mechanisms regulating gene expression in higher eukaryotes. The group works in an interdisciplinary manner across diverse projects, integrating experimental and computational biology.

The successful candidate will work in tight collaboration with a team of experimentalists. He/she is expected to take part of all steps of scientific projects including experimental design, data processing, data integration and modeling. Current projects involve developments of computational strategies for single cell and single molecule footprinting (Krebs et al., Mol Cell. 2017), parallelized reporter assays (Hartl D., et al, 2017; Krebs et al., eLife 2014) as well as meta-level data integration. The candidate will access computational infrastructures at EMBL (i.e. computing cluster) and receive support from the GBCS team. He/she will be integrating the large bioinformatics community existing at EMBL Heidelberg.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates should be dynamic and motivated with an appropriate university degree in computer science, bioinformatics or biostatistics (master degree with 2+ years of experience or PhD), and a strong interest in quantitative biology, systematic approaches and gene regulation mechanisms. Prior experience in programming and statistics is required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is mandatory.

The successful candidate must be proficient in spoken and written English. Expertise in R, next generation sequencing and data modeling is an asset. The position is offered for an initial term of 2 years (renewable).
