Job Description:

Responsibilities

The bioinformatics scientist will be involved in the production and use of large collections of clinical RNAseq transcriptional profiling data from both public domain and internal programs.

Primary responsibilities of this position:
• Develop and maintain RNAseq data processing pipeline with state-of-the-art alignment/counting/analysis tools.
• Run newly generated internal datasets through the pipeline.
• Maintain file system in accordance with data retention policy for RNAseq data storage
• Produce standardized quality control and data output reports from pipeline
• Collaborate with biologists to complete end-to-end analysis of clinical transcriptional profiling data; from raw sequencing data, produce a final, functional analysis with publication-quality graphics.
• Work collaboratively to design and implement new immunological experiments.
• Update Systems Immunology group on new RNAseq data analysis publications.
• Drive development of novel analysis tools as needed for cutting-edge single cell transcriptional data.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:
• Have a solid background in programming (e.g., Perl/Python, Java, R and/or MySQL) in a mixed Unix-Mac-Windows environment.
• Have experience in genomics, high-throughput sequencing, statistical analysis and data visualization.
• Thrive in a collaborative environment, and easily adapt to new project needs/goals identified by any member of a research team.
• Preferably be familiar with Galaxy tool suite, R/Bioconductor, and Cytoscape.
• Perform other duties as required.

M.S. or Ph.D. (preferred) in bioinformatics, biology, computer science, or related discipline; with a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience for Ph.D. and 6 years for M.S.
