Bioinformatician II

Job Description:
Performs data analysis and provides bioinformatics solutions on research projects related to complex human diseases, including model organisms.

Education and Experience:

Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistical genetics, computer science or closely related degree with at least two year experiences or PhD degree with direct experience with Illumina next generation sequencing (NGS) platform data (during graduate work) or PhD degree with 1 year experience in microarray or other non-NGS genetic data analysis.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must have knowledge of general physiology and molecular biology, high-throughput genomic, genotype. And sequence data. Must have excellent skills in C, C++, PERL, Java, R, or Matlab. Experience with data from multiple genomic platforms, including affymetrix genechip expression arrays and SNP/cytoscan HD arrays. Must have extensive knowledge and experience in the use of existing bioinformatics tools and biological databases, as well as familiarity with cloud computing. Must have strong work ethic; the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Must work in a highly interactive and collegial group. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
