What You’
ll Do:
An entry-level bioinformatics I position is available immediately in Ron Do’s research lab. The Do lab is situated in the Charles Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine and is affiliated with the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.

Dr. Do’s lab focuses on determining the genetic and biological bases of cardiovascular disease and related metabolic risk factors. The group pursues these interests by utilizing approaches from human genetics, genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, population genetics and computing.

The bioinformatics specialist will work with members of the Do lab to perform analyses on large-scale genetic data. This includes large-scale next generation sequencing, genotyping, epigenetic, and gene expression data. The individual will develop and support multiple research projects in the lab. Some duties and responsibilities include: writing scripts to develop and manage computational pipelines to analyze large-scale sequencing data, running software to perform genetic analyses, performing data mining and statistical modeling and methods development.

What You’ll Bring:
Candidates should have at least a B.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or Statistics. Proficiency in programming (e.g. Perl, Python, or Java). Proficiency in statistical computing (e.g. R)
