Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated software engineer to join the Genetic Testing Laboratory at Sema4, an innovative health information company dedicated to empowering healthier living through data. We are seeking an experienced developer to join a variety of projects and work closely with the Directors and Managers of different departments within the clinical laboratory to assist in quality assurance and analysis to consistently improve upon client service levels and avoid any barriers to meeting and exceeding our crucial turnaround times. The winning candidate will have exposure to cutting-edge web-development, HPC (including Cloud) technologies, the full software development lifecycle experience (Agile preferred) and software engineering tools and will have demonstrated high visibility in a competitive environment. The Software Engineer III will collaborate within a team of software engineers, bioinformatics engineers and scientists from the Sema4 Genetic Testing Laboratory on developing innovative software tools to help analyze human genomic variation in an integrated environment dedicated to state-of-the-art genetic testing services and data analysis. The role offers the chance to design and develop software applications / tools / widgets, analytical pipelines and data management software in a production environment and the opportunity to make tangible contributions to the ongoing development and implementation of QC/QA and validation strategies. What You'll Bring:
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering. Higher degree is a plus.
- Familiarity with modern web development frameworks (e.g. Angular / Bootstrap / JQuery, Ruby on Rails / Django), database technologies, containerization (e.g. Docker), HPC experience, big data processing and deployment on the Cloud.
- Proficiency in some of the following languages: Javascript, HTML, CSS, Python, PHP, Ruby, Java, MySQL, Bash and Make.
- Demonstrated experience with software development tools and methodologies, e.g., version control (Git), issue tracking (e.g. Jira), continuous integration, test-driven development and Agile development.
