Job Description:
Applications are invited for a Bioinformatician in Prostate Cancer at the Big Data Institute under the supervision of Dr David Wedge currently based in the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.

We are looking for a Bioinformatician in Prostate Cancer with interests in the fields of cancer genomics and bioinformatics. You will have extensive experience in the analysis of cancer genomics or other ‘big data’. The post is focused on the analysis of whole genome sequenced (WGS) data from more than 1200 prostate cancers. You will carry out the development of computational models, the statistical analysis of data and the scientific interpretation of data, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will have a PhD in a relevant subject (or MSc plus extensive practical experience); knowledge or interest in cancer biology/genetics; general bioinformatics skills; exemplary programming skills in R; experience of dealing with large datasets and highly developed problem solving and reasoning skills. You will also have excellent communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with willingness to learn new techniques.

The post is fixed-term until 28h February 2019 with a possibility to extend to February 2020 and funded by Cancer Research UK through the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC).
