- Customisation and deployment of annotation pipelines for parasitic worm genomes
- Analysis, curation and integration of large-scale genomics data sets (e.g. studies of gene expression and genomic variation)
- Development of the resource to support drug target identification
- Community engagement, including presentations and tutorials at workshops and conferences
- Good programming/ scripting skills (e.g. Perl or Python)
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux operating system
- Experience using relational database systems (MySQL or Postgres)
- Strong grounding in genome biology
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Bioinformatics experience at Masters or PhD level
- Experience analysing functional genomics experiments (especially RNASeq)
- Experience with software version control systems
- Knowledge of parasitology, preferably helminths
- Experience with genome annotation methodologies and pipelines
- Familiarity with the Ensembl Application Programming Interface
- Previous annotation/curation experience
