Centre for Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Henry Wellcome Building for Molecular Physiology, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford

Applications are invited for a Bioinformatician/Biostatistician in Oxygen-Sensing Group at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Physiology under the joint supervision of Dr David Mole and Professor Peter Ratcliffe (FRS) who is also head of department. The group has a long-standing record in the field of hypoxia and HIF biology (both generally and specifically in its relation to kidney cancer) having been at the forefront of research in this area, internationally, for nearly 2 decades.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding postdoctoral research bioinformatician/biostatistician to help expand our ongoing programme of work using next-generation sequencing to study transcriptional and epigenetic responses to hypoxia and their relation to cancer biology. You will be an integral member of the Oxygen Sensing research group, with prime responsibility for driving analysis of the group’s next-generation sequencing data. As such, you will play a key role in all aspects of the group’s work, from experimental design to new pipeline development through to publication.

You will have a PhD in a relevant subject (or MSc plus extensive practical experience), a strong background in quantitative analysis, and excellent communication and problem solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in all aspects of the group’s work, from experimental design to new pipeline development through to publication. The post would therefore suit an ambitious, team worker capable of independent thinking who is looking to develop a career in academic research.

The post is fixed-term until 31 May 2018 and funded by King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia.
