Job Description:
My client is seeking a creative, highly motivated and result driven bioinformatics scientist. This person will be responsible for the strategy and execution of computational biology and advanced analytics with the specific expectation to contribute scientific innovation and support for advancing microbiome programs. Job Responsibilities: -With a high degree of scientific knowledge and understanding of R&D process, work as an integral part of project teams to enable progress and decision making toward delivery of therapeutic candidates leading to products. -Responsible for identifying and addressing the bioinformatics needs, interpreting and communicating findings to project teams. -Contribute to algorithm development, experimental design, data analysis and internal or external workflow implementation to generate novel hypotheses to power discovery and selection of development candidates. -Implement available solutions or develop custom scripts for sequencing analysis. -Establish and maintain data analysis pipelines. With extensive experience on statistical and quantitative methods, initiate and execute data integration and mining efforts across diverse internal and external data sources. -Conduct transformation and interpretation of data to enable and enhance the scientific understanding of desired therapeutic target profile. -Identify and manage contract services in support of project goals. -Maintain expertise and knowledge of computational technology trend and bioinformatics landscape in our industry. -Assess and identify new opportunities for data analytics mechanism and application. Job Requirements: -Deep understanding of bioinformatics landscape. Must have extensive knowledge in statistical and quantitative methods as well as working knowledge of genomics and metagenomics. -Demonstrated ability to apply data analytics skills toward discovery and drug candidate selection. -Experience with sequencing data analysis and large scale genomic and metagenomics data processing. Expertise in the implementation and utilization of computational methodology and data pipeline tools. Statistical analysis using R, S-plus or Matlab and scripting/programming using Perl, Python, C/C++ or Java essential, and relational database/SQL preferred -Understanding of drug discovery and development concept, and experience working in or with pharmaceutical industry required. -Experience with microbiome research in the pharmaceutical industry preferred. -Ability to interface and lead multi-functional project teams. -Ability in managing vendor relationship, and directing contract resources. -Excellent people, leadership, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills. -MD or PhD in biology, bioinformatics, statistics, computational biology, with a minimum of 10 years related experience.
